If you are a current adsense publisher you may be glad to know that Google adsense has introduced expandable ads. Expandable ads are rich media ads that expands beyond the size of the original ad when a user initiated an action such as when a user click the ad. If you are an existing adsense publisher, rich media ads are already integrated on your existing ad code if you enabled image ads during the set up. Expandable ads are the same with other Google adsense units that is they are CPC or CPM based ads. Earnings are generated when a user visit the advertiser's landing page and not when a user just simply click to expand the the rich media ad.

Google Rich media ads are covered with the following Google policy

  • Ads will expand only after a user clicks and interacts with the ad.

  • Mouseovers or rollovers won't trigger the ad, in order to prevent accidental expansions.

  • An expandable ad won't expand more than double its width or height.

  • Once expanded, the ad will appear as a layer over the page content so that your content will not be modified or shifted in any way.

  • The user may close the expanded panel at any time.

  • All expandable ads must comply with our standard AdWords image ad policies.
